Beautiful Feet Ministries
You've felt it haven't you? Some call it a stirring. Others say it's a voice. For me it was like that scene in the movie Dances with Wolves where Kevin Costner is awakened in the middle of the night by the running of the buffalo. He doesn't know what it is, but he knows it's something significant and he's got to find out more.
Beautiful Feet Ministry exists to help you do just that.

06/30/09 "Self Aware"
I don’t know if you saw it but I recently watched with a great deal of interest Oprah’s interview with Ted Haggard and his family. The show originally aired on January 28th of this year but was replayed here in Little Rock on June 29th. Read more...
LRMF BJ Sams Luncheon
Fifty six years is a long time to spend in any profession. In broadcasting it's almost unheard of yet at the end of July Little Rock's BJ Sams will retire after spending more than half a century on the air.
BJ shared some of his wit and wisdom at the June luncheon of the Little Rock Media Fellowship. More than 40 radio, TV and for the first time print journalists turned out to celebrate BJ's career. It was one of the largest crowds the LRMF has ever had! But after several minutes of humorous anecdotes BJ's talk turned deadly serious ashe shared with the group the tragic story of his son's death and how through the grace of God alone he was able to deal with the aftermath. Click here to listen to this BJ's story of God's Amazing Grace.

Royal Rangers Pow Wow 2009
Thanks for the prayers! What a wonderful weekend it was, Fri. June 5th-Sun. June 7th, with the Arkansas Royal Rangers. I'm told there were more than 400 3rd-8th graders at the camp near Hot Springs Village. I was priviliged to be the guest speaker this year and thanks to some excellently prepared soil and God's Holy Spirit there were nearly 30 kids who came to know the Lord and another 20 or so who made "rededications". The topic of the weekend was "Adventures in Camping" and that's the subject of the messages.

The Shack is Back!
BF is thrilled to announce we’re
bringing W. Paul Young, author of The
Shack, back to Little Rock! Young will
speak to the LRMF on Monday, August
17th then at a fundraiser in Conway for
the Bethlehem House Homeless
Ministry. We’re working on prices and the location
for his talk and will let you know as
soon as we get it locked down.
We’re also looking to host a private
fundraiser with just 20 people to
benefit BF but again those details
are forthcoming. In the meantime
just re-read the book and clear your
calendar for Monday, August 17th
for an evening with W. Paul Young!
Help!!!
I’m excited
but feel a
little overwhelmed
to
be leading the weekend retreat
for this Assemblies of
God Youth Ministry. RR is
a great organization focused
on mentoring the next
generation of men. The
retreat is June 5-7th and
every young man in the AR
Assemblies of God will be
there. Please pray for clarity
of speech and good soil to
receive the word!
Small Ministries Conference
You saw the need. You felt the calling.
You stepped out of the boat...NOW
WHAT?? If I’ve just described your
present situation then I want to hear from
you. We’re hoping to put together a Fall
conference specifically designed for
ministries run by one to five people. We’ll
deal with issues like organization, publicity
and promotion, fund raising,
encouragement and other challenges
unique to small ministries. Dates have yet
to be set but we’re looking at late September/
early October. The cost, if any, is also
yet to be determined. If you’re interested
e-mail: matt@beautifulfeetministry.com.

We’re friends, right? Good. Then you won’t mind if I whine just a little bit here.Ministry is not an easy business. The money’s no good. The hours are terrible and it is so easy to get frustrated especially when you can’t get churches of different denominations to cooperate together.

I have to write this column a little quicker than usual. Seems there is a “businessman’s special” at the ball park today. Usually our AA baseball club, the Arkansas Travelers, play at night but a couple of times a year they try to reach out to those of us who have to get up well
before the crack of dawn by playing at 11. Read more...

Not too long ago we learned that our oldest child was accepted into the Honors College at the University of Central Arkansas. This is very cool. It’s cool not just because Travis will be able to live and study with some pretty smart kids but an invitation to Honors College carries with it a full scholarship including room, board and tuition. I hope I’m wrong but I think it’s only a matter of time before churches across this country lose their non-profit status. I know that sounds impossible but hear me out. 03/8/09 "Dear Travis"
I can hardly believe my first child is now 18 years old. It seems like just yesterday that your mom and I were living in a small, rented house in Jackson, Mississippi. I was working for the CBS affiliate there and your mom, after leaving a very successful business in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was in the process of building up her clientele at the hair salon in one of the local department stores. We were poor. Read more...
Fee Fee's Kitchen Building Project
Twice a month Euphemia “Fee Fee” Jones walks from her
front door to a makeshift kitchen her husband Calvin built a
few years back and begins cooking. But she’s not cooking

food from The Rice Depot and other ministries and with the
help of about 10 to 15 volunteers Calvin and Fee Fee cook
and deliver meals to seniors and shut-ins all over Warren

02/23/09 "Paradigm Found"
As I’ve mentioned earlier I had no intention of going it alone in pursuit of the ministry to which I believe God had called me. But that’s what happened. And that’s what continues to happen to so many people today; people who don’t want to rock the boat but know that in order to satisfy the burning inside of them they’ve got to take a step out of it. And to paraphrase Bugs Bunny, “That first step…is a lulu!” Read more...
02/16/09 "Paradigm Recovered"
Before I wrote this I sat down with a number of pastors who shared with me some very interesting insights. I can’t share all of them with you but I do want to dwell on a couple of them since they were so often repeated. The first is that most preachers today don’t trust their people with God’s word. Mark Evans at the LRMF
It was a great Valentine's crowd that turned out at Valentine's Restaurant to hear pastor Mark Evans talk about marriage and relationships. Sometimes it's tough in a business that is so focused on "me" to think about "us" but as Mark said if we want to break the trend and have a successful relationship that's the way it has to be. Communication is the key, he says, and after you hear this message you'll agree.
